Left-wing judges set lofty goals

Editor,

Last July we went to see two aircraft carriers docked in San Diego. We had trouble getting there. A Gay Pride parade blocked the streets of downtown San Diego. They were going public and no longer hiding their identity.

Now the activist left-wing judges have had their "coming out." Reported in The Weekly Standard, "At a conference at Yale last week, leftist law professors set their agenda for the next two decades — and their goals were truly astonishing. New "rights" must be found or added to the Constitution, participants said, so that every American is guaranteed a home, government-funded childcare, and an $80,000 handout to eliminate poverty, funded by the estate tax.

"Political rights enshrined in the Constitution," one participant said, "are inadequate."

Is there any wonder that conservatives are rallying to reject such judicial activism and support President Bush's nominees? The stakes couldn't be higher.

In their arrogance, some judicial think that the failed platonic system of socialism and communism should replace the free enterprise democratic system that makes America great. Many sincere democrats have been hoodwinked by socialistic entitlements — something for nothing — that is, nothing except our freedom and prosperity.
