POLSON — Robert Dale Stevens, 75, of Ronan, was welcomed into heaven by the loving arms of his father on May 5, 2005.

Bob was born on March 6, 1930, to Jack and Martha Stevens in Salmon, Idaho. The youngest of 10 siblings, Bob spent his early years growing up in Idaho, and then moved to Portland, Ore., after serving in the Navy.

Bob's career in transportation management brought him to the Seattle area where he settled with his family. He was married to his beautiful wife Sandra for 35 years.

Together they raised their family in Snohomish, Wash., and in 1997 Bob and Sandi moved to Ronan, where they enjoyed trips together to Glacier National Park, spending time with family and friends, and exploring the Mission Valley.

In 2001 Bob provided loving and compassionate support for Sandi during her courageous battle with breast cancer.

Bob enjoyed fishing, gardening, bowling, dancing, playing the harmonica, his horse Rascal, his dog Rocko, telling jokes and tall tales, going to Mission Bulldog boys' basketball games, coaching youth sports, and spending time with family and friends.

"Papa" will be greatly missed by the light of his life, his grandchildren.

They were always greatly entertained by his silly behavior. Papa's warm humor, fishing lessons, funny stories, selflessness, and love for his family will always be remembered.

Bob was always quick to lend a hand, provide advice on how to grow a better garden or catch a bigger fish, and give encouragement to those in need.

His endless competition with his brother Don who grew the tallest corn, the biggest Walla Walla sweet onions, or who had the greenest lawn will always live on.

Bob's words and love will always be taken to heart.

Bob is survived by his loving wife Sandra; seven children, Betty and Bob Jones of Seattle, Jan Lindsey of Seattle, Jody and Mike Bass of Snohomish, Kris and Nate Mostajo of Snohomish, Michelle and Joe Strickland of Monroe, Wash., Brad and Kristen Stevens of Stanwood, Wash., and Craig Stevens and Kristin Rohfleisch of Missoula; 12 grandchildren, and one great grandchild; his loving brother Don and Lucille Stevens of Pocatello, Idaho, and several nieces and nephews.

We will miss you, Dad, and our memories of times shared with you will live on in our hearts forever.

Services celebrating Bob's life were held at the Grogan Funeral Home May 9. A graveside service was held in Salmon, Idaho, on May 10. A warm thank you is extended to friends and family for all their support and prayers.
