Ronan man killed in car crash
CHARLO —A Ronan man was killed last Thursday afternoon, May 5, after the car he was driving slammed head-on into a dump drunk on Hwy 212 outside of Charlo.
Joseph Weaselhead, 25, was pronounced dead at the scene, and two passengers were airlifted to hospitals in Missoula and Kalispell after the crash last week, according to Sheriff's deputy coroner Jay Doyle.
"It appears they were driving northbound when they crossed over into the southbound lane," Doyle said. "It doesn't appear that any one of them were wearing a seatbelt. They were all ejected from the vehicle."
Doyle said he did not know the full extent of the passengers' injuries, but that they were very serious.
The driver of the dump truck was not charged in the incident. Doyle said the Sheriff's office is awaiting toxicology reports from the state crime lab in Missoula. Results are expected later this month.
