BUTTE — The Charlo Lady Vikings lost their bid to State in the Western C divisional tourney last weekend, but it wasn't for a lack of trying.

Charlo beat Victor at the District 9/10-C tourney, but apparently Victor polished their skills since then to edge the Vikings in five competitive matches 18-25, 13-25, 25-23, 25-21, 16-14.

The Lady Vikes scored 27 kills led by Hayley Carr with 16. Carr also had 13 of 18 team blocks. With 14 team digs, Stevie-Leigh Sammons had four. Ma'rya Hungerford had 26 assists and Amanda Murphy had four of 11 team aces.

In order to secure a bid to State, the Lady Vikings had to knock off fourth seeded Lincoln in a loser-takes-third match. However, Lincoln took Charlo down in four games 26-24, 25-19, 22-25, 25-21.

Carr had 17 of the teams 36 kills and seven of 16 blocks while Jessie Bucholz had 10 kills and seven blocks. Carr also had aces. Hungerford claimed 15 blocks and Rhondell Esterby had three of the team's seven aces.

Charlo ended its season 20-4.
