Howard Senkler

RONAN — Howard Senkler, 87, of Charlo died in his sleep on Nov. 9, 2005.

He was born Aug. 25, 1918, to Fred and Elizabeth Senkler in Hartline, Wash. At age 9, he started running a combine on his father's dryland wheat farm. He had a lifelong love of the land and worked on the family farm until he moved to Charlo in 1965. There he raised registered Black Angus cattle until he retired in 1977.

Howard served in the Army and was injured in Germany in 1944.

While recuperating in Spokane, he met and married Rita Martin in 1949.

Howard will be remembered for his integrity and sense of humor.

He is survived by his wife, Rita; children Jim and Kathy; brothers and sisters, Walter, Mary, Paul and Alma, and nieces and nephews.

His daughter Mary Beth and brother Art preceded him in death.

A funeral mass was held at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Charlo on Nov. 11. Graveside services were held Nov. 12 at Holy Cross Cemetery in Spokane.

Memorial donations may be made to Sacred Heart Parish. Shrider's Mortuary of Ronan assisted with arrangements.
