Just how large would Super Center be?
Editor:
I'm amazed by the reaction of so many people I visit with regarding the Super Center proposed by Wal-Mart.
A waitress from a local restaurant didn't know that Wal-Mart's plans include pads for three new restaurants. A clerk from a local gas station didn't know that Wal-Mart's plans include a gas station with 10 pumps. There are others lacking information, too many to mention.
Do all the employees working at local tire shops know about the tire and service department Wal-Mart is adding? Do those who work for the local florists know that the super center will be selling flowers? Do the many employees of the local greenhouses know how large the garden center will be?
Super centers are known to host a variety of other one-stop shopping conveniences. How do the employees and patients of the optometrists feel? How about the hair salon beauticians and their clients?
I don't understand why the managers and owners of local businesses who will be directly affected by a super center aren't informing their employees about the Goliath that is ready to swoop in and steal their jobs.
