'A workman is worthy of his hire'
Editor,
My wife and I have been privileged to call Polson our home and to serve this community professionally for just shy of 30 years. During that time we have come to know many of its residents as not only clients, but as close personal friends.
I have served on the school board and all our daughters have gone to school in District 23 through high school, receiving an education which they found equipped them well for college. One of them is graduating this year (thank God!).
We have reaped the benefits of a very talented and dedicated staff of teachers and school boards that have for the most part exercised fiscal conservatism in the spending of our tax dollars.
I believe this board has attempted to do the same in their negotiations with the teachers for a contract for employment.
However, after very carefully examining the issues of the negotiations as they now stand, it is our considered opinion that the two issues now standing between the board and the teachers before settlement can be reached are not only fair when presented as the teachers would have them, they are logical concerning the issue of termination policy, and if anything, less than most of us would like to see our teachers paid — especially since it is our children they are educating. "A workman is worthy of his hire."
Our thank you to the board for their work on our behalf, and our continual appreciation to all of the teachers in this very fine school system.
May God bless all of you.
