Bulldogs look strong against Plains

ST IGNATIUS—The Bulldogs had a home field advantage last Friday night when they pulled off a big 41-7 win against Plains.

"They were down, and we had confidence, and took advantage of that. We played a good game," head coach Tom Peterson said.

The team knew they had the win by the second half, and coach Peterson took some of the 'Dogs off the bench and let them get in on the game.

"We played well," said receiver Dallas Cordier.

Defense was strong. The boys tackled hard and held Plains in check all night.

In the first quarter Austin Arlint scored the first touchdown on a two-yard run and the team got the two-point conversion. Gus McDonald then scored his first of three touchdowns to make it 14-0. McDonald added another TD in the second, before connecting with Tyler Trudeau on a 64-yard pass for another TD.

Jake Bosley had a six-yard run for a TD, making the score 34-0 at that point. McDonald then had his final TD in the third to give the team a 41-0 lead before Plains scored in the fourth. McDonald had 174 yards on just 11 attempts, while Arlint added 130 yards himself.

The team finished with 430 yards of total offense.

Plains had a number of incomplete passes and a few injuries allowing the 'Dogs to keep the lead. Plains had some turnovers, including an interception by Max Willet, taking the ball back for the Bulldogs. Arlint took the ball on a 17-yard run to the 18-yard line.

Later, quarterback Bo Coffman recovered a botched kick-off taking the ball back for the Bulldogs.

Coffman handed off to Jordan Rohrich who took the ball to the 50-yard line for the second down.

Joseph Mitchell was a strong force on defense and Ryan Mitchell stopped the ball on the two-yard line to rally the defense.

Mission, now 1-1 in the conference, will travel to Thompson Falls Friday. Game time is 7 p.m.
