James B. Mason
ST. GEORGE, Utah — James B Mason, 81, returned to his Heavenly Father Saturday evening, Sept. 24, 2005. He was born June 29, 1924, to James McKinley Mason and Viola Bell Smothermon Mason in Hoxie, Ark.
Jim was raised on a farm in Harrisburg, Ark., along with his four brothers. Jim then married his sweetheart, Auda May Morris, on Dec. 23, 1948 in Lepanto, Ark. They were later sealed for time and all eternity in the Alberta Temple in Cardston, Alberta, Canada, on March 25, 1978.
Auda and Jim lived many years in Polson, where Jim owned and operated Mason Auto Repair and Service. In December 1984, they moved to Fullerton, Calif., where Jim continued utilizing his mechanical talents working with the U-Haul Corporation. He retired in 1991. In 1992, he and Auda moved to Grand Rapids, Minn. They decided to make one more move, that being to St. George, where they have lived since 1993.
Jim was a friend to all and was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. He had a strong testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ and loved working in the St. George Temple.
He is survived by his devoted, loving wife Auda; two brothers, Thomas (Sherrie) Mason of Alexandria, Ind.. and Royce (Lois Jean) Mason of Hector, Ark.; two nieces and three nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers.
Funeral services were held Sept. 29 at the Spilsbury Mortuary Chapel. Interment was in the St. George City Cemetery. Arrangements were made under the direction of Spilsbury Mortuary, St. George.
