City judge only contested position in Ronan races
The city of Ronan will have several uncontested elections on Nov. 8, but the city judge position is contested again.
? Mayor Kim Aipperspach is running unopposed for re-election as Ronan City Mayor and for the past four years he has been managing city departments with limited resources.
"Trying to get enough stuff done with not enough money" is the biggest issue facing Ronan, he explained, and he doesn't expect that to change during his second term as Mayor.
"It is just something you manage," he said. "First, you take what you absolutely have to do and put that on top of the list," he said. Right now, the Ronan Police Department is on top of the list.
Between looking for grants and prioritizing, he explained that he's been doing his part to ensure that city department can operate as best they can with what they've got.
? Marcia Ganieany is running unopposed for re-election for Ward 2. Last term she focused on working with the highway departments, something she'll continue to do, she said.
"The highway is the biggest issue. They are going to split the highway and buy people out. I want to make sure everything is done with the best interest in mind for people in town," she said.
Also on her agenda: build a bigger, better walking path. She has been advocating for a large walking path for sometime now and hopes to have one built during her second term.
Ganieany also envisions an improved downtown shopping district.
"We're trying to get downtown Ronan a better place for people to shop," she said.
Ganieany has been teaching at Pablo Elementary for 32 years.
? Richard Jungers started in May of this year when he was asked to fill in for Jim Corcorran, who moved out of district. Jungers will be running unopposed for Ward 3. When Jungers was sworn in, he helped the city council apply for a grant to solve the city's water problem. Now he'll be doing his part to help come up with funds to assist the Ronan Police Department.
"We need to find funds to come up with better wages for our guys in the department," he said. "We're always looking for ways to come up with more cash," he said. "It's a never-ending battle to make the cash stretch out."
He also wants to focus on repairing city streets in his second term.
? Rhonda Emerson is challenging Glenn Frame for Ronan City Court Judge. This is her second time running.
She brings seven years of law enforcement to the table — five with the Ronan City Police Department as a part-time officer and two with the Lake County Sheriff's Department as a reserve officer. In addition, she taught drug education at Ronan schools.
If elected, she promises to place more emphasis on parental responsibility and will fine parents for their children's' actions when appropriate. She also wants the citation process to be more consistent.
? Glenn Frame is running for re-election for City Court Judge. He has been the City Court Judge for 10 years now and has been extensively trained and certified by the Montana Supreme Court. He also served as a sheriff for many years. He hopes to continue to do his job the same way he's always done, by metering out justice in accordance with Montana Legislature.
"I think I'm a good judge," he said. "I've done a good job here."
