Vikings edge Lincoln, win fourth in a row

CHARLO — The Vikings were fueled by homecoming hype last weekend when they beat Lincoln 48-20, their fourth victory in a row.

Lincoln led in the first quarter after getting a touchdown pass that bounced off the chest of a Viking defender. Charlo looked to recover with a 50-yard TD pass, but it was called back on holding. Trey Sinclair got them on the board with a touchdown from the 2-yard line with 6:25 left in the quarter, and Brandon Rollins got the two-point conversion to take make it 8-6. With 3:33 left in the first, Bo Herak had a QB keeper for a touchdown, putting the Vikes ahead 14-6.

Andy Sieges scored early in the second quarter with a four-yard touchdown. Sinclair followed that up with the two point conversion. Lincoln tacked six more on to the board with 5:28 left on the clock. At the next possession, Sinclair ran 55 yards on the first play from the line of scrimmage to give the Vikings a big 28-12 lead.

With 38 seconds left in the second quarter, Herak took the ball himself into the end zone, with Rollins getting the two point conversion, to give them a 36-12 half time lead.

The second half started with a 25-yard touchdown pass from Herak to Sieges to make the score 42-12. Rollins also scored in the third off of Herak's 14-yard pass to make it 48-12.

In the fourth quarter, Charlo eased up a bit with the victory firmly in hand, and Lincoln got a TD and a two point conversion to make it 48-20.

Sinclair wracked up 138 yards with 19 carries while Sieges had 10 carries for 99 yards. Herak had 64 yards with six attempts. He completed four out of nine passing attempts for 53 yards.

On defense, Sieges led in tackles with six solos and four assists. TJ Kerr had five tackles for a loss with two sacks. He also had eight assists.

"Lincoln is much better than their record indicates and we knew that. We played a lot better than last week and that was a big plus," he said.

The Vikings played Noxon Wednesday for the last game of the regular season. Scores were unavailable by press time.
