Car trouble led to some good experiences
Editor,
Thank you for the gift of your newspaper from Aug. 11. You wondered, stepping out of your office, maybe on your way to lunch, what I was looking for, and I said the local newspaper.
Thanks to the people at the service station down the street from you, at 93 Auto Care, our vacation was saved with prompt service and no price gouging. People at the 93 deserve a pat on the back for helping people from out of state breathe a big sigh of relief.
When I mentioned I was from Denver, you asked if I was in Polson because of the drowning of a man from Denver. I thought not, but on returning home, found that our house-sitter is the cousin of the man who drowned. I gave the cover of your newspaper and its lead article about his cousin to Sam, who said he would share with members of the family.
It became a talisman for the bereaved, a piece of paper from the very town where it happened.
Services for John Denavare, universally known as Denny, were held Aug. 29 at St. John the Baptist Church in Longmont, Colo. Sam reported today that Denny's Lakota uncles had performed a ceremony at the river.
Death and vacationing at Flathead remind us of how lucky we are to be alive in this world and to to be able swim in your lake, to say nothing of our joy at finding huckleberry pie at the Driftwood — superb!
Keep up the good work.
