Elizabeth Ann Calbaum

POLSON — Elizabeth Ann Calbaum, 64, on Aug. 17, 2005, at St. John Medical Center in Longview, Wash.

She was born Feb. 16, 1936, in Polson. After graduating from Polson High School she attended St. Patrick School of Nursing in Missoula, where she met Jerry Calbaum. They were married in Polson in 1957.

Jerry's job in the wood products industry took them all over the Northwest where they finally settled in Longview for the past 25 years.

Liz worked in the nursing field on and off from 1957 to 1996 where her warm and gentle nature comforted many people. Her career in nursing took her down both paths including working in the emergency room, ICU, as a visiting nurse for home health, and in discharge planning.

After retiring from nursing in 1996 Liz pursued a long held interest in real estate by attaining her real estate license and going to work for Windermere Allen and Assn. Liz enjoyed helping home buyers purchase their first home. Liz worked in real estate until she retired in 2003.

Liz will be remembered for her true love of life. She enjoyed traveling all over the world. She enjoyed classical music, especially Rachmaninov's Piano Concerto No. 2. She and Jerry attended the Oregon Symphony for over 20 years. She also liked Judy Garland and Nat (King) Cole. Liz enjoyed spending time in her flower gardens and had a beautiful yard to show for it. She had a warm and generous nature and was a friend to all who knew her.

Liz is survived by her husband Jerry of 48 years; son and daughter-in-law Steven and Elaina Calbaum of Auburn, Wash.; daughter and son-in-law Ken and Peggy Taylor of Longview; daughter and son-in-law Kristin and Tad Davis of Lander, Wyo.; special nieces Stephanie Funke and Ashley Johnston of Kalispell; brothers Robert Funke of Huntsville, Ala.; Thomas Funke of Polson; sisters Maryann Gerrity of Polson, Patsy Mueller and Carol Ruiz of Ronan. She also enjoyed spending time with her four grandchildren, Jadon, Sean, Kyle and Rianna.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Ed and Bessie Funke; brothers William, James and Richard Funke; and a very special nephew, Kane Funke, 20, who was killed in Iraq in 2004.

A memorial mass will be held in Friday, Sept. 9, at 10 a.m. in the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Polson with Father Val Zdilla officiating. Inurnment will follow at Lakeview Cemetery in Polson.
