| September 1, 2005 12:00 AM

ARLEE — Rosie (Rosemary) Babbitt Howes was received peacefully into the arms of Our Father at her home July 31, 2005. Her battle with cancer is over; her courage and faith remain an inspiration.

Rosie was born in Flagstaff, Ariz., to Betty and Ted Babbitt Jr.

She was raised enjoying nature and the outdoors.

After graduating from Flagstaff High School in 1968, she attended Arizona State University to study Spanish.

Rosie's love of children then led her to Mexico to work in an orphanage. That experience led her to Maricopa Tech and a degree in nursing. Rosie worked for years in the nursing field caring for others.

In 1996, Rosie relocated to Arlee, where she and her husband operated the Sheep Ranch Inn. She loved her new home and the many new friends she made in Montana.

Her laughter and spirit will remain in the hearts and souls of all who knew her.

Rosie was the second born into a large family filled with love. She is survived by her husband, Alan Howes; children, George Herlihy of Flagstaff, Tedi (husband Ryan) Hodson of Portland, Ore., Tim Herlihy of Missoula and Joe Glover of Arlee; her mother, Betty Babbitt; five sisters; three brothers; and her beloved granddaughter, Lexie Hodson.

Rosie was preceded in death by her father, Ted Babbitt, and on Aug. 6, she was returned to his loving arms at Calvary Cemetery in Flagstaff for burial.

A memorial Mass was celebrated Aug. 27, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Arlee followed by a brunch courtesy of the loving and kind people of the parish.

Special thanks to Sister Joan and Donna Molica.

Memorial donations may be made to Northland Hospice or St. Patrick Hospital's Providence Center.
