Duane Douglas Michelson

ST. IGNATIUS — Duane Douglas Michelson, 70, died from injuries sustained in an auto accident south of Ronan on Saturday, Sept. 3.

He was born in St. Paul, Minn., on Oct. 9, 1934, to Don and Violet (Schortner) Michelson.

He was raised and educated in the western states and proudly served with the Air Force in the Korean conflict.

He was employed with the Department of Motor Vehicles in Nevada as an inspector for most of his professional career. He also served as an undersheriff in Winnemucca, Nevada, before his retirement and eventually becoming a snowbird.

He was preceded in death by his wife Blanche "Jackie" in 2004.

Survivors include his children Denise Michelson of St. Ignatius, Dean and Kip Michelson, both in California; a sister, Donna Williams, and a brother, Tom Michelson, both in California.

As per his wishes, cremation has taken place. Memorials may be made to the Lake County Hospice.

Arrangements were handled by Foster & Durgeloh Funeral Home of St. Ignatius.
