Windham's failure to act is disappointing
Editor,
It is with great sadness of heart that I have to write this letter to inform you that your State Representative, Jeanne Windham, has let the people of Lake County down by being an accomplice to the seizure of all monies from our bank accounts. I was so shocked. I really believed she would do the right thing and come up with the funds for her attorney herself.
According to an article in the Missoulian dated June 10, 2005, "Windham said she agreed it was unfair and it was not her intent to make Jore responsible for paying the attorneys she hired to dispute the Lake County Recount Board's actions."
So why is she allowing the sheriff to confiscate money on her behalf? Why has she allowed this action, to have our personal property "seized" until her bill is paid (adding on 10 percent interest as of June 9)?
She also said, "A candidate should not be punished for running for office, Rick was an innocent party." If she really felt this way, why is she forcing an innocent person to pay her debt?
I am very disappointed in our Representative.

Editor's note: Legal action was initiated by Helena law firm Meloy & Trieweiler, to whom the legal fees are apparently owed. Attorney Mike Meloy represented Anita Big Spring, who filed suit on Windham's behalf.
