John 'Jack' Edward Huber
POLSON — John "Jack" Edward Huber, 71, of Polson, died on Sept. 16, 2005, at St. Patrick Hospital in Missoula.
Jack was born on Aug. 12, 1934, in Talala, Okla., to John and Mae Huber. He grew up in Talala and graduated as valedictorian at Talala High School in 1952. Jack moved to Oregon where he worked in the timber industry with his uncles Ray and Lester Wallace for a short time. He eventually returned to Oklahoma.
Jack married Barbara Haynes on Jan. 23, 1954 in Oologah, Okla.
He worked for his father-in-law drilling oil wells in Oklahoma. He was drafted into the U.S. Army and served in Germany from 1957-1959 and also served during the Cuban Missile Crisis. After his military discharge, he moved back to Oklahoma. He worked in Tulsa for brief time and eventually went to work for the Public Service Company. He remained at that company until his retirement in 1989.
He and Barbara started traveling and made it as far as Montana before deciding to move to Bozeman. They continued to live in Bozeman until moving to Polson in 2002. He considered Montana his little heaven on earth.
Jack was member of the Oolagah Masonic Lodge and the First Baptist Church in Oologah. He enjoyed woodworking, building, fishing, traveling in his motor home, genealogy and especially enjoyed the St. Louis Cardinals.
His parents and a sister preceded him in death.
Jack is survived by his wife Barbara of Polson; a son, Ron Huber of Canton, Ohio; a daughter, Teresa Huber of Polson; grandsons, Russell, Wesley and Marshall Huber, all of Canton, and Max Huber of Polson; six sisters, Gracie Wood of Collinsville, Okla., Dorothy Jacobs of Oswego, Kan., Delphene and Roy Aday of Dardenelle, Ark., Margie and Ralph St. John of Oologah, Betty Alene McClain of Sequoyah, Okla., Ruth and Larry Garrett of Claremore, Okla., and numerous nieces and nephews.
Local funeral services were Sept. 19, at the Grogan Funeral Home, Polson with the Rev. John Payne officiating.
Funeral services and burial will take place in Oklahoma.
