Charlo Lady Vikings are on a roll
NOXON — The Charlo Lady Vikings are looking good mid season as they continue to wrack up wins, beating Noxon, Hot Springs and St. Regis over the past week.
They took down Noxon last week, thanks in part to 20 kills from Jessie Bucholz. Hot Springs fell to the Lady Vikes, who won in three — 25-13, 25-14, 25-17.
"We were down at one point in the first game 13-3 and they climbed out of it," said head coach Christy Fryberger.
"That is good to know we can do that."
Ma'rya Hungerford continues to do well as the team's setter and Rhondell Esterby had nine of the team's 32 digs against Hot Springs.
While the team is looking good, Fryberger commented that there were some things that needed work — namely utilizing talents from specific players.
"We are starting to realize that we can't hit unless our passes are there. [Stevie Leigh] Sammons and [Hayley] Carr are really passing well which directly contributed to our success," Fryberger said.
"We need to get the ball to [Rhondell] Esterby a little more. She has a high hitting percentage but just hasn't had the chance to hit the ball that much."
Coach Fryberger said that Amanda Murphy is shaping up to be one of the team's strongest assets.
"When she gets the a hold of the ball they are tough to stop," she said. "Her serving this year has saved us from some tough spots."
Monday, the Lady Vikings continued their winning streak winning in four 25-16, 25-17, 13-25, 25-16 against St. Regis.
"These girls work hard and have overcome some things. I am very proud of them all," Fryberger said.
