CHARLO — The Charlo track teams took top spots at their own Charlo Lyons meet last week with the boys chalking up 142 points and the girls earning 225.

Bo Herak earned first in three events — the 110 meter hurdles at 17.31, 300m hurdles at 43.41 and the pole vault at 11-6. Herak also took fourth in the 100 meter run.

"Bo probably had the best overall day. He just had a winning day all around," said head coach Bret Thompson.

Also placing in the pole vault was Jean-Paul Toussaint who came in second with 11-6, and Brandon Pope filled the three spot with 9-0.

"[Toussaint] had a personal best in vaulting, and then to turn around and place fourth in the big meet on Saturday was impressive. Both days of vaulting were great. Hopefully that will pay off for us by the end of the year," Thompsson said.

Joey Ray took first in shot-put with 46-9 and TJ Kerr nabbed first in the javelin with 154-6 while Shadow Devereau came in fourth with a throw of 138-0.

"That was TJ's personal best by almost 20 feet. He could have a chance to go to state for us this year," Thompson said. "That was a big thrill for him."

In the 100 meter run, Herak came in fourth in a time of 12.13 while Brandon Rollins found himself in a three way tie for fifth with a time of 12.49.

In the 200, Ed Dumont came in fifth with 26.42.

The 400 saw Jeff Bucholz came in third with a time of 58.48.

Rollins came in second in the 800 with 2:20.3, while Bucholz came in fourth with 2:27.1 and Zach Daugherty took fifth with 2:27.3.

In the 3200, Matt Faroni took fifth with 13:17.1.

Jared Kingery took second with 18.74 in the 110 hurdles. Trailing right behind was Pope for third with 19.18 and Chris Hoyt came in fifth with 22.58. Kingery also came in third in the 300 hurdles with 47.77. Hoyt took fifth 57.31.

Charlo claimed fourth in the 400 relay, but finished strong in the 1600 taking first with 3:56.2.

Andrew Marcure took fifth in the discus with 102-8.

Pope came into a three way tie for fourth in the high jump with 5-0.

On the girls side, Charlo swept the competition in the 400 and 1600 relays. Amanda Murphy was the triple winner, claiming first in the 200 meter run, the discus with 97-5 and the shot put with 38-0 1/2.

"Amanda has broken the school record already this year. Anytime you are throwing [the shot put] 38 feet this time of year is good," Thompson said. "She has the top throw in Class C so far this year."

Samijo Kain took top spots in the 100m hurdles and high jump with 4-8. Adri Hammond came in first in the pole vault with 8-0 and second in the 800.

Taking fifth in the 100 meter run was Mary Barnett. Barnett also took fourth in the 200 while Hayley Carr came in fifth.

In the 400, Staci Stipe took third with 73.02 and came in fourth in the 800.

Stevie-Leigh Sammons took third in the 1600 with 6:41.9.

Addy Rockwell, in the 3200, came in third with 16:09.7.

Charlo filled the 100m hurdles. Coming in second was Carr at 18.24, Rochelle Toussaint in third with 19.73, Shianne Montgomery at fourth with 20.53 and Ann Thompson at fifth with 21.91. Toussaint also came in third in the 300h with 54.31.

"Rochelle had a big day for us. Kate Coburn and Shianne Montgomery were very much improved in the throwing events. That will give them a chance to do well toward the end of the year," Thompson said.

In the weights, Sammons threw a 99-9 javelin for second while Carr came in fourth with 92-2. Megan Harriman threw a 30-3 1/2 shot put for third. Kate Coburn came in fourth in the shot put with 89-7.

Charlo filled the second and third spots of the long jump with Ma'Rya Hungerford jumping 15-01/2 and Rhondell Esterby with 14-5 1/2. Hungerford and Esterby also filled the second and third spots of the triple jump.

Murphy and Hungerford traveled to the Missola Top 10 meet Tuesday, but results were unavailable by press time.

The teams will travel to the Florence Invite this Friday.
