MaryAlice B. Finlay

DAYTON — MaryAlice B. Finlay, 82, of Dayton died of natural causes on Monday April 17, 2006, at St. Joseph Hospital, Polson.

She was born Aug. 31, 1923, in Billings. MaryAlice grew up in Billings and graduated from Billings High School.

She received her Bachelor's degree in education from Kansas State and her master's from San Jose State.

She taught for 18 years in the Santa Cruz Schools as a Special-Education teacher in the grade and middle school.

MaryAlice married James Finlay in Reno, Nevada, on November 12, 1969; they lived in Santa Cruz until 1984, before moving back to Montana.

She was active in the Methodist Church as their organist; she loved to play the piano and the organ, her garden and was active in the Mission Valley Choral.

Her parents and a brother preceded her in death.

She is survived by her husband James of Dayton; two sons, Ian Finlay of Pittsburgh, Pa., and Nick Zack of Manhattan, Kan; a daughter, Christina Medalie of San Francisco, and numerous grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 29, at 2 p.m. in the United Methodist Church. Memorials are suggested to the United Methodist Church for their music department.

Arrangements and cremation are under the direction of Grogan Funeral Home and Crematory, Polson.
