John Joseph King, Sr.
STEVENSVILLE — John Joseph King, Sr., 64, of Stevensville and Corvallis and formerly of West Dummerston, Vt., entered into rest on Wednesday, Aug. 2, 2006, following a courageous battle with cancer.
John was born on Aug. 29, 1941 in Guilford, Vt., to Brite and Rita (Roberts) King. He attended schools in Westminster and Saxtons River, Vt. He was married from 1959 - 1986. John served in the Army National Guard at Fort Dix, N.J., from 1962-1965.
John was a self-employed builder, a very skilled craftsman and thoroughly enjoyed designing and building homes. He also loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman.
In 1983, he relocated to Stevensville from West Dummerston. John continued building homes and began raising thoroughbred horses.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, sister and a daughter.
Survivors include his children: Pamala (Timothy) Mock of Poultney, Vt.; Natalie (Don) Darnall of Stevensville, Juanita (Mark) Nystrom of Ronan, Lisa (Kevin) Hescock of Kentucky, and John (Brandy) King, Jr., of Corvallis; sisters, Beth Falgiani, Las Vegas, Nevada, and Rita Kalinen in Ohio; brother, Clark King of Charlestown, N.H.; 10 grandchildren, Cassi West, Donnie and Karen Darnall, Sabrina and Alex Nystrom, Jake, Joe and Josie King, Luke Tyler and Bart Hescock and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be conducted at the Community Baptist Church, Stevensville, Aug. 5, with Pastor Bruce Ekkelboom officiating.
Burial was at Sunnyside Cemetery with military honors.
