Jerry James Nygaard

POLSON — Jerry James Nygaard, 65, of Polson was called home by our Lord on Thursday, Aug. 24, 2006, at St. Patrick Hospital after many years of medical struggles.

Jerry was born Jan. 16, 1941, to Elsie and Henry Nygaard in Port Angeles, Wash. His family later moved to North Dakota, where he graduated from high school. In 1959 they moved to Pablo, and from there Jerry served in the U.S. Army in Japan.

Jerry married Virginia Butt in Pablo on May 10, 1964.

He worked 16 years for Evans Products in Missoula, after which he owned and operated Jerry's Quik Stop in East Missoula. Jerry and Virginia eventually moved to a family farm in Pablo.

Jerry owned and operated Fleetwood Vending, which he continued to operate after moving to Polson.

They eventually built their home in Polson. He enjoyed the outdoors, yard work, fishing and camping. Jerry loved spending time with his grandchildren and helping other people. He was an active member of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church.

He is survived by his wife Virginia; daughter Lorri Kriskovich and her husband Scott of Bigfork and their children Joshua, Zacharie, and Jennifer; daughter Shari Yoder and husband Chris and son Jeremy of Edmonds, Okla., and daughter Roxi McDermott and husband Neal of Ronan and children Kruz, Kylie, and Katie; his mother Elsie Nygaard of Pablo; sister Myrna Roseler and husband Gordon of Nevada; sister Dyane Lawrence and husband Bruce of Missoula; brother Richard Nygaard and wife Twyla of Trout Creek and brother Jim Nygaard of Polson.

The funeral service was held Aug. 29 in the Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church with the Rev. Aaron Stinnett officiating.

Interment with military honors was in Lakeview Cemetery.

A reception will be held at the church following the graveside services.
