Readers want to help horse owner

Editor,

I just read the article about 16-year-old Dawn Mayer who lost her horse because someone decided to shoot it in the head. I was touched by the way a troubled girl found direction and healing through working with horses. She has set goals for herself and has obviously worked hard to accomplish them.

Five years ago, we lost a 16-year-old family member to suicide because he lost his way. Perhaps if he had found an outlet such as she has, he would still be with us.

The article explained how Dawn was going to pay for her new filly by selling the horse she had been working with. Obviously, that is now impossible. My hope is that although Dawn has experienced this emotional horror and financial loss from the result of human depravity, she will now be able to experience the generosity and empathy of human kindness.

Please pass on this financial gift to Dawn. Perhaps other will read this and feel impressed to give also. I would love to see Dawn get enough to pay for the new filly and get on with accomplishing the next goal she has set for yourself.

Further donations may be sent to 9306 Hillside Rd., St. Ignatius, MT 59865.
