Competition helps development

Editor,
I've been a full time Polson resident since 1992, and am thankful for the contribution Wal-Mart has made to our community and surrounding area.
Our tourist season is about three months and we Polson residents were paying tourist prices year round until Wal Mart arrived and a supercenter will be a bigger asset.
Competition is good; it helps a community to develop and grow. Growth is inevitable, thank goodness. Believe me, I don't want to live in "The Good Old Days." I can envision Polson being the competitive hub between Missoula and Kalispell in the future.
Progress is defined in Webster's as "Steady improvement, as of a society or civilization." I believe that is what the majority in Polson really wants.
