Dollars need to be stretched

| February 2, 2006 12:00 AM

Editor,

I'd like to make some comments on the new Super Wal-Mart planned for Polson. I'm frankly for it. I think it will be a big help to Lake County people who need to stretch their dollars. Who doesn't?

My wife and I shop regularly at our Polson Wal-Mart because we have found the merchandise selection good, prices fair, and the staff very friendly and helpful.

When we visit our children in Marietta, Ga., Salisbury, Md., or Leesburg, Ala., we also shop at the local Wal-Mart for the same reasons. The difference in Leesburg is that there is a Super Wal-Mart. The Super Wal-Mart has the regular product line but also has groceries and gas at very substantial savings. The Super Wal-Mart in Leesburg is always crowded, particularly the gas pumps.

All three of these towns also have thriving business communities in addition to their Wal-Mart stores.

Super Wal-Mart will offer lower prices on more products close to home. It is good news for the people of Lake County. In addition to low prices on more products, Lake County people who now drive to Missoula or Kalispell to find discount prices will also save money (and the environment) by not using six to eight gallons of gas for the round trip.
