Enoch Ellsworth Richwine
POLSON — Enoch Ellsworth Richwine, 81, of Polson died at his home on the morning of July 10, 2006.
Enoch was born on Nov. 2, 1924, in Medicine Lake to Elmer and Susan Richwine. He moved to Ronan, as a child. He grew up and attended schools in Ronan and graduated from Ronan High School.
He joined the U.S. Navy and served as a radar man on a LST boat during WWII.
He married Lucille Long on July 21, 1947, in Missoula.
After his military service Enoch worked for the Ford Garage in Polson for several years. He also worked for Cass Construction and later worked construction in Alaska. He returned to Polson and operated the VFW.
He started Burgerville in Polson in 1962 and his family still continues to operate that business. He still worked for a few hours everyday at Burgerville.
Enoch loved fishing, hunting, playing pitch and drinking Budweiser. He was servant to many people and participated in all VFW activities. He was a Past Commander of the VFW post for two terms and served on the VFW House Committee. He would do anything for his children and friends. He will be dearly missed.
Preceding him in death were his parents; sister, Sarah Sturm, and six brothers — Leroy, Bruce, Guy, Kenneth, Calvin and George.
He is survived by his wife Lucille of Polson; three sons, Mason and Kathy Richwine of Columbia Falls, Corey and Kathy Richwine of Ronan, Shane and Vicky Richwine of Polson; a daughter, Marcia Moen and husband Cameron of Missoula; grandchildren, Jeremy Richwine of Florien, La., Samuel Enoch Richwine of Columbia Falls, Adam Richwine, Brandy Richwine, Christina Richwine and Danielle Richwine, all of Ronan; Casey and Cassidy Moen of Missoula; great-grandchildren, Mathew and Elizabeth Richwine; and a sister, Jane Hall of Washington.
Visitation will be today (Thursday, July 13), from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Grogan Funeral Home in Polson. Funeral Services will be Friday, July 14, at 11 a.m. at Polson Community Church. Interment with military honors will follow at Lakeview Cemetery.
A reception will follow at the Polson VFW.
