There are only two types of cities

| July 13, 2006 12:00 AM

Editor,

The City of Polson had to make some hard choices in the Wal-Mart supercenter. There was no way everybody was going to come out being happy. I think the city council made the only "logical" choice, which was to approve the supercenter.

From my past experiences there are two types of towns: 1. The ones doing nothing, for which they are really going backwards. 2. The city that is engaged and building new business, making more opportunities for the future generations.

I think most of us would like to see old things never change, but this is the real world, and we must learn to live in it. In a few short years, I think a lot of people are going to wonder why the big fuss was ever made about the Super Wal-Mart.

In the next few years there will be over 800 to 1,000 new homes built in the Polson area. These people are also going to need places to shop.

Stores are going to find more people are in them. All grocery stores will be priced competitively to meet the new demand of the future Polson. Good working people are going to find new job opportunities, which will drive up wages and benefits.

PS: Polson, you still have a "parking" problem for your merchants on Main Street and Highway 93. Those people with the big RVs and boats are still looking for parking places and going right on through town. Wal-Mart will make a place for them and so should you.

Thank you, Council and Mayor, for looking out for the future of Polson
