We need to drill our own oil
Editor,
The United States is blessed with a representative democratic system which we applaud. However, people in responsible positions often fail to do the right thing and do just the opposite. The case is such with the feds trying to control the present inflation by raising interest rates.
Present inflation is not caused by runaway business, but by the trickle down effect of high fuel costs. To offset the extra fuel cost, they should lower production costs by lowering interest rates thus compensating for the higher fuel costs. To raise interest rates raises production costs and adds to inflation.
During the Carter misery years the same mistake was made and like throwing gas on a fire, runaway double digit inflation destroyed the economy — until President Reagan lowered taxes and the feds lowered interest costs to revive the country. We need to drill our own oil. Radical environmentalists seem to not care a whit for humanity or the economy. They place plants and animals above all and would willingly sacrifice the well being of the human race for bats and moles.
