Do things right and they'll happen

Editor,

Our Seventh Street Skate Park is a reality. If you had asked me if it would be a reality in the infancy of its planning stage, I would have said it is a vision that may come, but only years down the road.

Enter Parks Superintendent Karen Sargeant, and here is it. Oh yes, dozens of people, including users, donated time, effort and money.

One donor was gracious enough top up forth $200,000 in matching funds. Still, we were looking at a total of $300,000 for the project.

Former councilman Dan Morrison and Mayor Randy Ingram, both strong supporters of the skate park, gave Karen the green light to pursue the matter. Here we are today.

The park is open — a testimony that if you do it right, things can happen.

Polson area residents once more have proven that they are up to positive challenges.

The grand opening was several weeks ago and very well attended.

So, to all, congratulations. To Karen, a salute from all of us.
