Hendrickson takes first place in Polson

Levi Hendrickson took first place last Sunday in the Mission Mountain PRCA rodeo in Polson, winning a $2,655 purse after being the only bull rider to finish with a timed score last weekend.

Hendrickson's win came off PRCA wins earlier this month in Arlee and Drummond, too.

But Hendrickson wasn't the only local to compete. Ronan cowboys Josh Harris, Chris Westphal, and Chris Lynch all competed in Friday night's team roping event, and Harris, Lynch and Polson cowboy Tim Bagnell also competed in the tie-down roping.

Judy Myllymaki of Arlee took seventh in the barrel racing for the weekend with a time of 17.80, winning a $121.20 purse, while Josh Harris split at $294.50 purse in the team roping event with partner Bill Boyce, from Lewistown.

Only two competitors were able to make it to the rough stock events Friday, and coupled with the canceled steer wrestling competition that night, event organizers let folks come back on Saturday or Sunday with their Friday night ticket stub to make sure everyone got their money's worth.

Despite the heat, hundreds of folks showed up each day, which featured double purses for the rough stock to attract cowboys on a weekend that featured several other rodeos throughout the state.
