POLSON — Jack Tanner died in Polson on July 20, 2006. He was a lifelong resident of Montana who spent his working career with the Great Northern Railroad and later with the Burlington Northern Railroad.

Jack was born in Conrad on May 7, 1929, and spent his youth in Shelby. He served honorably with the United States Marine Corps in the Korean conflict in 1950-1951.

He married Doris Kelly in 1952 and had four sons from this union. They were later divorced. In 1973, he married his wife of 33 years, Grace Sayler.

Jack enjoyed life's pleasures whether it be a game of golf, time spent fly fishing in the creeks, or a stroll on the ditch banks hunting pheasants. He passed along the love of the outdoors to his children, who respect and enjoy the same values.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two stepsons, Richard and Mike.

He is survived by his wife, Grace; four sons, Craig (Jacqui), Brent (Susie); David and John (Patricia), as well as his wife's children, Chris Sayler and TerryAnne, and 13 grandchildren.

Hey, Pop, thanks for the memories. We love you, we thank you and we will walk another pleasant ditch with you.
