Continued growth means more business
Editor,
Polson has come a long way since the early 1900s when Main Street was dirt and the sidewalks were made of boards.
But Polson has progressed and now we have paved streets and sidewalks, brick buildings and traffic lights. I wonder if any of those people witnessing the progression objected to Polson moving forward and modernizing.
Today we have new construction of homes, condos, marinas and highways. More people are coming to Polson and they will continue to come and we will need more new homes, condos, marinas and roads and highways. Is anyone objecting to this progress today? No. Then with all this residential progress, why should business stand still?
We need Wal-Mart to build its supercenter because the other businesses, e.g., grocery, clothing, won't be able to handle the needs of all the people inhabiting this new construction of homes and condos.
I personally have gone to our existing Wal-Mart store on two different occasions for two different items recently.
One employee told me, "We had it once but it was meant for another store." I said, "Oh, you mean a supercenter." Why do I have to drive to Missoula for some of the everyday items that I use? None of these items are available anywhere in Polson.
I believe having a supercenter in Polson would be an asset to the whole community — more tax revenue for the city and state and less gasoline consumption for the citizens.
I will also appreciate the variety of merchandise they will offer that is not available in Polson.
