Friendly folks will still be here
Editor,
It happened again. We needed a hardware item. Shopped first in Polson to no avail, came home and put it on our growing list for Kalispell. If we had a Super Wal-Mart store our shopping list would definitely not be quite so long, or our miles so many.
With all of the people moving here and the summer people coming back for the summer, it seems to me, if we have shopping available they will shop here. I know of some summer folks who bring every thing (including groceries from Costco) with them, as they know it probably won't be available here, or has to be ordered.
When we moved here from Columbia Falls, we were happy to see we had a Super 1 store — that is, until we discovered the sale items in the Super 1 flier did not include Polson. We also noticed that when Super Wal-Mart started to be discussed, the Polson store was then included in the Super 1 fliers. Is that what competition can do to an area, or is it just a coincidence?
I understand that some people are worried about losing our small town feel. The people are what make that small town feel. We have that with all the nice friendly people that live here. The people and the small town feeling will still be here even with a nice new and complete Super Wal-Mart store.
Count me as strongly in favor of a Super Wal-Mart Store for Polson.
