Shirley Cerise

BUTTE — Shirley Cerise died peacefully Thursday, June 15, at her home in Butte, surrounded by her loving family.

Shirley was born in Ronan, Nov. 12, 1928, to Richard "Dick" and Hazel Madson. She grew up on the family dairy farm and married Jacob Dauenhauer, Jr. in 1945. They were married 27 years and had three children. She later married Jim Cerise and they were married 26 years.

Shirley had many interests, some of which were hunting, fishing, camping and rockhounding. She was also an accomplished seamstress. Many of her quilts grace the home of her family and friends.

She loved being outdoors and working in her yard and garden. Shirley was a kind and loving person who helped anyone in need. She will be greatly missed by all her family and many friends.

Preceding her in death were both her husbands; her parents; her sisters, Myrtle Roe and Hazel Kuntz; her mother-in-law Jenny Florence.

She is survived by her children: Jake Dauenhauer of Butte, Florence and Ray Laitinen of Iron, Minn., and Beatrice Combs of Butte; eight grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren; her brother, Robert Madson of Daytona Beach, Fla.; numerous nieces and nephews and extended family and friends.

Cremation has taken place in Butte. Memorial services were conducted June 19 in the Wayrynen-Richards Funeral Home in Butte. Interment of ashes took place in Ronan on June 20.
