Fixed income folks would benefit
Editor,
My wife and I are retired seniors who live in Big Arm on a fixed income, and have been here about 10 years. When we originally arrived in this area, we shopped a great deal in Polson; however, we found it to be less expensive to drive to Kalispell for our shopping due to the high prices in Polson. When we heard there was a "supercenter" coming to Polson, we were greatly pleased to think we can now go back to Polson to do our shopping, saving, gas, time and dollars.
I understand there is a small group of residents in Polson who think that Wal-Mart's prices are too low, and that Wal-Mart should not be allowed in the Polson area to compete with the high prices charged by the local stores. Now I've been around quite a bit but never saw a business criticized for having their prices too low. (That's a great advertisement for Wal-Mart).
I know that bringing a "supercenter" in Polson would bring a great economic boost to the entire county, including over 100 new jobs.
And the members of the Polson city council should remember that the majority of your constituents are "for" the supercenter; these are the people who voted for you.
