Super Wal-Mart would be a draw

| June 29, 2006 12:00 AM

Editor,

I was on the Board of Directors of two malls while I was managing a number of small woman's clothing stores, in numerous cities. And yes, I was born and raised in Montana. Each mall has what are called Majors or Draws (Penneys, Herberger's, Sears, etc.). These stores bring traffic into the mall. Because of them, the smaller businesses also do a business.

Polson can be related to a mall. Having a Super Wal-Mart will be a draw to Polson. People that come here to shop, patronize other businesses. When you go to Missoula or Kalispell, do you shop at only one store? No, you eat, gas up and purchase numerous items at many businesses.

My point is this. Polson can be a draw or a major town in the valley. If Polson isn't, Ronan or some other town will be one day.

For those of you that want a small town to live in, there are many in Montana, and they're even on reservations.

No one is forced to participate in the progress of America; we may leave any time we desire.
