Ward Daniel Kugler
RONAN — Ward Daniel Kugler was born Aug. 3, 1932, in Lidgerwood, N.D., a son of Harry J. Kugler and Ruth Bullis Kugler. Ward died March 7, 2006, at St. Luke Extended Care Facility after a long time with Alzheimer's Disease.
He attended St. Bontiface Academy and graduate from Lidgerwood High School in 1950. He entered the U.S. Army in 1952 and spent 16 months in the Korean conflict. He returned to North Dakota and worked as a surveyor for the North Dakota Highway Department.
In 1963 he moved west to Ronan with his young family. He worked on the construction of the Job Corps facilities and remained in the construction industry, building three homes for himself and his family and many other projects.
In 1969 Ward married Rosemary Houle Jackson and they combined their families and opened the Busy Bee Cafe on Main Street in Ronan. A move to the ranch on Eagle Pass in 1987 where he could raise cattle, horses and dogs, all the favorite things of his life, made Ward's life complete.
He spent many years as a member of the VFW in Ronan and he was an avid trap shooter in Montana and a member of of ATA.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Rose; his son Brian Kugler (Patti) of Polson; daughter Suzette Kugler of Anchorage, Alaska; grandsons Logan Kugler and Jerod Kugler of Polson; his brother and sister-in-law, Ralph and Sharon Kugler of Minnesota; stepchildren Ramona and Bud Lynch, Darlene and Craig Elverud, Carolyn and Chuck Weivoda, Curt Jackson and Keith Jackson; 15 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Cremation has taken place and there will be a memorial service at a later date in the spring.
Memorials may be made to the VFW post or to the charity of the donors choice. Shrider's Mortuary of Ronan is assisting with arrangements and cremation.
