Charlo Dick
PORTLAND, Ore. — Charlo Dick left this world on March 21, 2006, due to a tragic car wreck.
She was born June 7, 1953. She was a member of the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes of the Flathead Nation.
The Charlo name came from the last traditional chief of the Bitterroot Salish.
She was proud of that fact. Charlo was brought to Oregon along with her sister Wahneta and adopted by Vern and Velma Finke.
She was the mother of Jennifer Bell and Autumn Rigelman.
She was the proud grandmother to James, Corina, Nathan, Nicholas, Mikey, Natalie, Matthew and Hailey. She is also survived by her mother Virginia Charlo; her three brothers, Mike Charlo, Charlie (and Zelda) Charlo, Louis (and Cindy) Charlo; sisters Tiny Charlo, Francine (and Joe) Dupuis, and Sissie (and Boge) Plant.
She was preceded death by her father, Louis B. Charlo Sr., and numerous friends in Montana.
She had recently moved to Cascade Locks. She had lived in the Mount Tabor area all her life before her recent move.
She was a fun-loving free spirit whose laughter, smile and warm heart will be missed by all who came in contact with her. We may take comfort in knowing that Charlo was never afraid of dying. She had a near-death experience in the past and loved to tell the story about it. She said it was nothing to be afraid of. We will just miss her.
A memorial service for Charlo was held March 27, at Trinity United Methodist Church in Portland.
Arrangements were by Farnstrom-Gable Funeral Chapel, Portland. Online condolences at www.farnstroms.com
