At the school district elections on Tuesday, voters in some districts had several choices to make.

Electors in all but two districts — St. Ignatius and Arlee — voted by mail.

The only levy and bond issues on the ballot were in the Polson District where voters approved both special levies and one bond issue:

? Approved 1,468 to 1,050 the elementary special levy of $58,868.12;

? Approved 1,616 to 1,387 the high school special levy of $64,207.48;

? Linderman bond issue of $2.3 million was approved 1,717 to 821.

The high school levy totals included returns from Upper West Shore-Dayton (in favor 147-124) and Valley View rejected the high school measure (35 against to 23 in favor).

Polson trustee candidates all were unopposed. Automatically elected were Kim Maloney (incumbent) 1,669, Theresa Taylor (incumbent) 1,687, Tracy L. Bauer 1661; High School District 23, elected one, Robert E. (Bob) Hanson (incumbent) 268.

Charlo voters elected Dave Vincent and incumbent Gregg Shafter to fill two slots. Vincent had 277, Shafter 215. Also rans were Vern Stipe with 176 and Kathie Sammons, 160.

In the Charlo High School district Brian Tufly defeated Aleacia Landon, 38 to 32.

In St. Ignatius, incumbent Kristy Nerby won the single two-year term with 176 votes to Teresa Bosley's 132 and Kathleen Ross' 79.

For the two three year terms at St. Ignatius, both incumbents — Jim Udall and David Castor — were defeated. Victorious was Maxine Whitson with 213 and Teri Dinnell with 135. Runners-up were Udall 120, Charles Tellier 110, Castor 93, Kipp 87.

At Arlee Lisa Dumontier-Perry with 57 votes was elected to a three year term. She outpointed David Sanchez 46, and Brian BigSam 42.

No elections were necessary at Dixon, Ronan, Bigfork and Salmon-Prairie Swan Lake due to no bond or levy issues and candidates are unopposed and elected by acclamation.

Trustees without opposition and elected by acclamation were:

Dixon — Greg Landon, one year term; Boone Cole, three year term.

Ronan — Dist. 30-1, Jason Adams (incumbent); Dist. 30-2, Joell Conklin (incumbent).

Salmon Prairie/Swan Lake — Ronald N. Ream.

Valley View — Jon Warneke.

Bigfork — Maureen Averill (incumbent); Swan River high school district, Dennis Sabo.

Dayton — Carey Cooley (incumbent)

Polson Rural Fire District

Polson Rural Fire District voters approved two levy measures. The first was for $69,895 (approximately five mils) for a seven year period and it was approved 889 to 695. The second measure was for $53,399 (approximately 3.18 mils) annually unless repealed. It carried 868 to 718.

The PRFD also re-elected incumbents Fred Nelson and Ross Hoyt to three year terms. They received 792 and 757 votes, respectively, to Paul Mauerer's 500. Alison Meslin was unopposed for a one year term and received 1,117 votes.

Flathead Irrigation District

In the Flathead Irrigation District Dick Erb out-tallied incumbent Chuck Stipe 38,724 to 16,014. The high numbers are the result of each voter casting one vote for every irrigable acre he has.
