Cheerful Heart sale was great success

"A cheerful heart is good medicine …" comes from Proverbs and is proven true every day we work with Lake County people. Our hearts are truly warmed by the response to the Cheerful Heart Treasure Fest garage sale last weekend.

Cheerful Heart volunteers closed the doors on last Saturday's garage sale early because of the fantastic response from local folks. We were basically sold out by 2 p.m. and not because we did not have items to sell.

Response to our requests for donated items was overwhelming, and the high quality of those items never ceases to amaze us. Hoards of eager folks filled the sales floor after the door opened at 8 a.m. Seeing satisfied folks leave with arms and boxes filled with "treasures" was satisfying; not to mention helpful for our treasury as this is the only organized annual Cheerful Heart fund raiser. The $4,700 earned at Saturday's garage sale will provide most of what we need to operate our non-profit organization for one year.

Thanks to everyone for supporting Cheerful Heart's mission to provide non-medical assistance to Lake County cancer patients. Generosity abounds … from those who answered the call for donations, to those who attended and purchased items, to volunteers who spent two long days preparing and staffing the sale, and especially to those who picked up and hauled items to storage throughout the year.
