Wal-Mart has treated her well

| May 10, 2006 12:00 AM

Editor,

I've worked at Wal-Mart for about seven years. I quit once seeking new career options. I came back because of the great benefits that Wal-Mart offered. Being a tribal member, I get good benefits. But the tribe doesn't offer cancer insurance. Plus I don't depend on the tribe for medical help when I get good medical through Wal-Mart.

Wal-Mart is an equal rights corporation. They do not have strict rules on who they can hire. They aren't tribal preference and don't hire minorities to make their quotas. Plus people of all races have room for advancement — with exceptional pay.

Our store alone has women department managers in all areas, including two assistant managers.

In all, my Wal-Mart is like a big family. We have our problems, but as a family Wal-Mart has treated me with respect.

When people say bad things about Wal-Mart they are saying it about the people who work at Wal-Mart. Whatever happened to respect for the individual in our society, which is Wal-Mart's philosophy?

It's painful to hear that people might lose jobs. I feel sorry for those people. But what about employees of Wal-Mart? Are other local corporations going to hire Wal-Mart employees if we lose our jobs? That's the main question here.

In closing I would like to thank all the supporters of Wal-Mart and Wal-Mart for giving me a great job!
