Fire District trustees say thanks
Editor,
The Polson Rural Fire District thanks the residents of the district for their thoughtful consideration this past election with the majority approving the two new mil levies. We understand that a large number of residents still disagree with the increases and we wish to assure all residents that we, the trustees, intend to keep our pre-election pledges.
The trustees will approve a frugal budget and we promise to thoroughly review all expenditures. We will try to find creative and economical ways to replace old equipment and gear. We promise to do our very best to keep our brave firefighters safe and to provide the district with the very best fire protection we can afford.
We will return to the sound policy of depositing all miscellaneous fees, etc. into the Capital Reserve Account, which will be used to replace higher priced equipment and unexpected financial needs.
Money will be saved each year from the operational funds to make extra payments to the equipment bond to reduce the seven year length of this special levy.
The trustees promise to keep the residents of the Polson Rural Fire District fully informed of all our decisions by forwarding a draft of the monthly meetings to local newspapers. We have changed the time of the monthly meeting from 5 to 7 p.m. which will enable more residents to attend.
We encourage residents to ask questions, share ideas and information as this helps us to make the right decisions on your behalf. We will post notice of date, time, place and agenda of the trustee meetings in City Hall, Big Arm Post Office and General Store plus other requested places.
Three times a year, the trustees will hold their meetings in Big Arm fire hall, dates to be announced.
If you have any questions, please call any of the trustees — Chairman Ross Hoyt, 849-5568; Fred Nelson, 883-3063; Alison Meslin 849-6628; Steve Lozar, 270-7672; Ron Ryan, 883-5206.
