Loranger has leadership qualities
Editor,
When you go to the polls on June 6 we hope you will choose a Republican ballot and then vote for Don Loranger for Senate District #5.
In the past three years since returning to Montana, Mr. Loranger has worked for the Bob Brown campaign for Governor (2004), traveling the state with him. He has been actively involved as a community leader in local projects. We have worked with him and know that he is dedicated to any task which he undertakes and doesn't waiver in his commitment.
One of his opponents would have you believe, as he stated in the March 2 Bigfork Eagle, that "he is a Johnny come lately to Flathead Valley politics and seems oblivious to our traditions." Further, "it is apparent that he learned his negative political tactics in Washington, D.C. and not Montana." These are pretty harsh words in our judgment.
Unlike some in this race, he was born and raised in Havre, and upon graduating from the University of Montana he received an ROTC commission as a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force and served our country for 30 years. His Montana values prepared him well and he retired as a Major General. He currently serves as an advisor to the U. S. Marine Corps. His past accomplishments and current responsibilities exemplify his leadership capabilities. We are confident that he will exhibit these same qualities as our Senator.
It is not our intention to belittle Mr. Loranger's opponents, as we know and served in the House of Representative with one of them for three sessions. We choose to support Mr. Loranger because he demonstrates a balanced approach to problems and has the ability to see both sides of an issue prior to rendering decisions that usually benefit the community as a whole. These are the qualities we need in Helena and we hope you will agree and join us in voting for Don Loranger for Senator in District #5.
