The Ronan-St. Ignatius Girls Track and Field Team finished the 2006 season this past weekend at Butte in one of the stormiest state meets on record.

The Ronan-St. Ignatius girls team finished in 13th place with 20 points.

"I would like to thank the girls for their commitment and all of the parents for their support of these girls, cheering them on and getting them to and from practices. I would also like to thank my coaches Noelle Oakland, Shelly Buhr, and Jonkar Arceniega for their support and effort in helping to make the 2006 season a successful one. With the loss of one senior and the addition of four freshman next season the girls team has a bright season ahead of them next year," said coach Crystal Pitts.

In the 100-meter dash Brianna Malmquist placed sixth with a time of 13.35.

Terinee McCready took second in the 1600-meter run with a time of 5:24.40. McCready also ran away with second in the 3200-meter run with a time of 11:43.47.

Sadie McMillan placed fifth in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 48.12.

"Sadie's place in the 300-meter hurdles was a great comeback for her after a false start in the 100-meter hurdles and a no height in the high jump on Friday. I was very happy with the way she rebounded and placed. Her placing in the 300-meter hurdles showed her competitiveness side that will help this freshman be one to contend with in the next three seasons." said Pitts.

The girls relay team finished sixth in the 400 meter relay with a time of 51.41.

"Briana and Tenille have run the 400-meter relay at state for the past two seasons but had never made the finals. Well, this year they not only made the finals but they placed," said Pitts.

The Ronan-St. Ignatius Boys team finished in 17th place with 10 points.

"All in all, I thought the kids competed well. When you get to the state level there are just some great athletes," said coach Noelle Oakland.

In the Discus Alan Skogen placed third throwing a distance of 151'7".

"Alan was still throwing the discus on Saturday after all of the other events had concluded. It was fun because our whole team was able to watch and support him," said Oakland.

Michael Fisher took fourth in the 3200 meter run with a time of 10:00.32.

"The seniors will be missed a great deal. They have been good role models to the underclass athletes and have always had good work ethics," said Oakland.
