Theodore Keith 'Tad' McDougall
KALISPELL — Theodore Keith "Tad" McDougall. 82, died at his home in Rollins on May 21, 2006.
He was born Feb. 17, 1924 in Cleveland, N.D., to Wilmer and Eureka (Strand) McDougall. Ted was the fifth of eight children. He grew up in Cleveland where he won best male actor his senior year of high school and graduated from Cleveland High School.
He went to one year of Business College in Ellendale, N.D. Ted joined the Civilian Conservation Corps when he was a teenager, then the U. S. Navy at age 17. After service in the Navy he came home and later married Vivian Oberg on Aug. 20, 1948, in Moorhead, Minn. While working for Standard Oil, Ted and his family moved to California where they lived from 1956 to 1988. Ted and Vivian retired in 1988 and moved to Rollins.
Ted will be remembered for his wonderful whistle, his love of card playing and his philosophies on life and his ability to make a person feel at ease. He loved playing pinochle, jigsaw puzzles, fishing and woodworking. He was a member of the American Legion.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Bill, Bobby and Tom; and one sister, Bernadine Heitz.
Ted is survived by his wife, Vivian McDougall, of Rollins; son Jeff McDougall and wife Suzette of Rocklin, Calif.; daughter Debbie Schipper and husband Jeff of Norfolk, Neb.; four grandchildren, Ashley and Taylor McDougall and Daniel Schipper and Kelly Schipper Acuna; two great-grandchildren, Avery Schipper and Aliya Acuna; two brothers, Wilmer "Willy" McDougall of Spokane and Charlie "Mac" McDougall and wife Beatrice of Nebraska; and sister Norma Jean Huseth of Sioux City, Iowa.
Memorial services for Ted McDougall were held Thursday, May 25 in the Johnson Mortuary Chapel, Kalispell.
