CHARLO — With two wins in the past week the Lady Vikings have secured a first place seed for the district tournament starting on Thursday in Philipsburg.

On Tuesday of last week Charlo lined up on the court against St. Regis as they prepared to make up for their first loss of the season just two weeks ago. The Lady Vikings hit the hardwood running as they breezed through them 25-17 in the first, 25-11 in the second and 25-13 in the third.

"The girls played well and moved to the ball well," head coach Bonnie Perry said. "They executed on some things we have been working on in practice and I was glad to get some of our younger girls some floor time."

There were nine aces with Stevie-Leigh Sammons recording six, and there were 20 team kills with Hayley Carr nailing down eight. Stephanie Maughan brought in all of the team's assists with 20. Megan Harriman and Samijo Kain each recorded two blocks for the team for a total of five. Ma'rya Hungerford brought in 19 digs for the team total of 29.

The Lady Vikings hit the court last Thursday against Two Eagle River School and easily defeated them in three, going 25-4, 25-9 and 25-9 to clinch their first place seed in Western C.

"We are continuing to work on some things in practice to get ready for tournaments," Perry said. "Winning these two games sealed a first seed in our conference and is a good position to be in going into tournaments."

Against Two Eagle the team recorded 17 aces with Sammons bringing in six. Hayley Carr and Amanda Murphy each had six kills for a team total of 20. There were 20 assists with Stephanie Maughan helping out with 15 and Justine Morigeau with five. There was one block for the team coming from Amanda Murphy, and the team had 19 digs with 11 coming from Ma'Rya Hungerford.

"I haven't had a chance to look at the other seeds but we are not overlooking anyone," Perry said. "Hot Springs will be bringing some great competition to the table and we will have to come ready to play."

The Charlo Lady Vikings will face off on Thursday afternoon in Phillipsburg, for the start of the divisional tourney.
