B&G Club has new Ronan director

| November 8, 2006 12:00 AM

Editor,

The last few weeks at the Boys & Girls Club have been hectic and crazy, as usual, with a bit of scary added into the mix with the Haunted House and Chili Chow-Down happening. I thank everyone in the community who pitched in to help us out. We have been and continue to be so blessed by the generous support from so many businesses, organizations and individuals (of which there are too many to individually mention).

With all that help and time we were able to raise $593 for the RHS class of 2009 for the Senior Banquet and the RHS Prom (total after a formal count this week) and over $200 for the Boys & Girls Club. Then, Ronan Telephone Company generously matched the admission amount and donated that to the Boys & Girls Club.

This was also a turning point in my time at the Boys & Girls Club, as these were my last events as Unit Director in Ronan. I am taking some time from a "normal" 40 (or more) hour work week to spend more time with my family.

I will continue to be involved in club activities and send my two young children to the club as soon as they are six years old.

The reins will be handed over to Katie Jo Cahoon on Nov. 6. She is a great fit at the club — being an energetic sports-enthusiast.

After Katie is settled in, the club will begin to institute a parent-volunteer program, so do not be surprised to hear from me again soon, asking you to generously give some of your time to one of our club sites, either in Ronan or Polson.

Those who truly care about children and how they can help them grow into responsible, caring citizens are the people I see each day and the people I work with everyday. I know there are more people like that out there and I will find you.
