Scarlets' bid for divisionals falls a little short

ARLEE — The Scarlets traveled to the District tournament last week and they fought hard in the first matches against their rival teams, St. Ignatius and Troy, but they ended up falling short of a shot at the divisional tourney.

"It was disappointing to end up at the bottom. We never felt like we were at the bottom. The girls had a fabulous year though. We set goals and achieved them. We kept a positive attitude and the girls worked hard. Winning aside, you want them to learn to respect the program and the team and they did that," head coach Tiffany Rehbein said.

The Scarlets competed against St. Ignatius with a good start, falling by a close score of 25-21. The Scarlets were still determined in the second match with an even closer 25-22 match, but it ended with a loss in the third round, 25-15.

Adriana Willoughby had six kills, Sam Morigeau had seven digs, and Jordan Pfau had six assists and four aces.

"We needed to learn to win — we needed to master that," Rehbein said.

Against Troy, the Scarlets battled for a close 25-21 loss in the first match, 25-19 in the second, and ended with a 25-18 match in the third.

Abbe Bridgewater had 10 kills, Sam Morigeau had two blocks, Adriana Willoughby had seven digs, and Jordan Pfau had six assists and three aces.

"They did pretty well this year. The girls were just working with new coaches every year and that was hard for them, but our seniors stepped in and made some adjustments," Rehbein said.
