Voter turnout was a good sign

Editor,

I have contacted Janna Taylor to congratulate her on a successful campaign for reelection as Representative for House District 11. As a citizen, I have told Representative Taylor that I will keep her informed on matters important to us in the district and to Montana. Legislators represent all their constituents. Each of us is welcome at the legislature to testify on our own behalf, as I recall from my many years in Helena. We can also contact our legislators by phone and e-mail. It is our privilege as citizens, all of us, to let our legislators know what we want them to do in representing us.

First, I want to thank the many voters who voted for me. My supporters and I knocked on a lot of doors, and it has been a great pleasure to meet so many of our voters. I would love to meet the rest. Lake County especially has so many kind and respectful people, even those who did not vote for me. Thank you for your votes, and if you didn't vote for me, I thank all of you for your consideration.

Second, I want to thank all the voters who participated in an exceptional turnout for an off-year election, no matter which candidates you supported. A large number of citizens exercising their right to vote is a good sign that our representative system of government is working. Thank you for making government work.

Finally, I thank all my supporters for making this campaign process less grueling. In particular, my closest supporters worked tirelessly on behalf of my candidacy and gave up a tremendous amount of time. My gratitude to them is unending.
