| October 4, 2006 12:00 AM

Gladys Marie Jeffery Schmauch, 95, formerly of St. Ignatius, died peacefully Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2006, of natural causes.

Gladys was born Jan. 11, 1911, in Stanton. She married John Thomas Schmauch in Fort Benton on Oct. 12, 1932.

The couple had one daughter. The family came to St. Ignatius in 1946, where they owned and operated The Club Bar from 1946 to 1981, when it was sold to the builders of the Cold Creek Saloon.

In 1983 after John died, Gladys moved to Boise, Idaho, to be closer to her daughter and granddaughters.

Gladys was the eldest of 10 children born to Clyde Thomas and Zadie Lucilla Jeffery. She is survived by three of her sisters: Marion Converse of Fairfield, June Brady of Stanton, and Dorothy Lee of Lewistown.

Gladys leaves behind her daughter, Maxine Anderson, of Boise; granddaughters Darcine Mead of Honolulu, Lorinda Dortch of Oxnard, Calif., Debra Hess of Boise, Leann Anderson of Cascade, Idaho, and Patricia Talboy of Meyer, Ariz.; eight great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

Gladys spent the last three years under the care of Barbara Pruitt of the Ashley Manor Care Home in Boise.

Words cannot fully express our gratitude to Barbara for her devotion, love and attention to our grandmother; their bond was an inspiration to us all.

At her request, cremation has taken place. Graveside services will be held at Pleasantview Cemetery, St. Ignatius, on Oct. 14, at 11 a.m.
